Is it safe to raise a child as a Vegan?

Because my girlfriend is Vegan (we've recently moved in together) and she's very healthy. But she's also dead set on raising any baby she bears Vegan too. Is it perfectly safe so long as she breastfeeds which provides the baby with enough nutrients?
