I used to take Target's knock off brand of One-A-Day vitamins. They didn't make me sick and they were gelatin free. Most vitamins are fortified with Vitamin D and A now these days. The sun can give you cancer if your out in it too much, so if you do want Vitamin D from sunlight, I'd suggest that you'd go for a walk early in the morning when the sun isn't so harsh. Raw greens and white mushrooms are good for Vitamin D and A. Carrots have both Vitamin D and A. You can also find plant based milks that are fortified with Vitamin D.
